Bonnie Derk Hepler

January 11, 1941 — December 19, 2024

Bonnie Derk Hepler, 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on December 19th, 2024. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Bonnie’s life was marked by her warmth, passion, and unwavering positivity.


Bonnie spent most of her life in Allentown, Pennsylvania, before moving to Frederick, Maryland, and finally relocating to Dana Point, California, six months ago. A dedicated Home Economics teacher for 25 years, Bonnie was known for her nurturing spirit and her love for education. Bonnie was an avid world traveler who cherished discovering new places. At home, she loved entertaining guests and gardening. She had a deep love for music, playing the piano and singing with joy. She was a proud Penn State alumna and avid fan. Bonnie was also an active member of the Presbyterian Church and very involved in the Herndon Camp Meeting Association, where she had a cottage.


Bonnie’s sweet nature and kindness touched everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, C. Edwin Hepler, her parents, Ralph and Goldie Derk, and her brother, Kenneth Derk.


She leaves behind a legacy of love and family, survived by her son, Bryson Hepler (wife Susan) of Tewksbury, MA, her daughter, Susan Hartman (husband Michael) of San Clemente, CA, and her four grandchildren: Rachel (husband Evan), Ethan, Katie, and Steven.


Services will be determined by the family at a later date, any donations in Bonnie’s honor can be made to the charity of your choice.
