Elizabeth Anne Di Giacomo Geffers passed away peacefully on August 13, 2018. Elizabeth was born in New York City, daughter of Vincenzo and Angelina (Coviello) Di Giacomo. Following Elizabeths fathers untimely death, her mother moved to New Jersey to raise her and her brother. Elizabeth obtained a bachelors in nursing from Jersey City State College followed by a Masters in Public Health and Administration from Johns Hopkins University. Elizabeth was a renown figure in nursing, healthcare administration and as a patient advocate. Elizabeth began her nursing career as Associate Director of Nursing services at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. She served as Regional Director of Nursing and Staff Model Operations for the California Highway Patrol Fitness and Health Promotions and held various other nursing leadership roles in Southern California hospitals and clinics. Later in her career, Elizabeth worked as a surveyor field representative for the Joint Commission where she promoted excellence in health care for over fourteen years. Her contributions continued when she established her own consulting company which prepared hospitals and clinics worldwide for accreditation and implementation of the highest standards of health care. Notably, during her career, Elizabeth served on the Olympic Organizing Committee Citizens Advisory Commission for the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, and she was a frequent contributor to journals in the fields of Nursing and Medicine. Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband, Rodney and her parents. Elizabeth is survived by her brother, Melchior; his wife, Diana; her nephew, Anthony Di Giacomo; and her niece, Domenica Di Giacomo Hart. The family will hold a private memorial service; date and time to be announced.
