“Aileen, Aileen, Aileen—give yourself a treat!” This wasn’t just a playful catchphrase she would say whenever she indulged in something small or special. It reflected a deeper philosophy she lived by: true happiness isn’t something others can give you—it’s something you choose for yourself.
Aileen Mary Doyle, 77, passed away peacefully on July 21st, 2026, after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born on May 1, 1949, in Dublin, Ireland, Aileen lived a life defined by devotion to her family and those she loved. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose warmth and spirit touched everyone, fortunate enough to know her.
Aileen is lovingly remembered by her children, Aileen Doyle-Santos, John Doyle, and Darren Doyle; and her five cherished grandchildren, Arin, Roisin, Devin, Colin, and Sean. She is also survived by her brothers, Paddy, Francis, and Ray; her sisters, Maureen, Teresa, Edith, and Joan; and her dear friend of nearly 60 years, Ann. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Patrick, in 2024; her mother, Rosaleen Hughes; and her parents, Edith and Jack Doyle.
Two of Aileen’s greatest joys were helping others and traveling. While she held many roles over the years, none brought her more fulfillment than her time at the Rotunda Hospital in Dublin, Ireland—the world’s oldest continuously operating maternity hospital. There, she worked closely with midwives and new mothers, offering care and support during some of life’s most meaningful moments. She traveled the globe—from the northern hemisphere to the southern and everywhere in between—as a free and independent woman.
She often said, “As long as you have something to look forward to in life, everything will be alright.” She had a gypsy spirit—always drawn to new places, new experiences, and seeing the world through a different lens. That sense of adventure was what she truly lived for.
She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved nothing more than a good natter over a cup of coffee and a cream slice. She would proudly tell her children, “You didn’t pick your sense of humor up off the ground—you got it from me”.
On Tuesday morning, July 21, 2026, the world lost a truly remarkable woman. She is now in heaven, reunited with her beloved son, Patrick—where she is whole again and at peace. Heaven is brighter because she is there.
