In Loving Memory of Annmarie Gerardo (née Langan)
Annmarie Gerardo (née Langan), a devoted mother, lifelong educator, compassionate psychologist, and woman of deep faith, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2026. She is reunited in eternal rest with her beloved husband, Henry (Henrique) Alexander Gerardo, and her cherished daughter, Ellen Gerardo Borlin Smith.Born in Scranton PA, Annmarie was the daughter of the late Anna Driscoll Langan, a dedicated healthcare worker at Misericordia Hospital, and Richard F. Langan, a prominent banker who passed away when Annmarie was young. Growing up as the third child of four in Philadelphia, Annmarie established a lifetime of priority for faith and family. She was preceded in death by her three brothers: Father Edgar Langan, Richard Langan Jr. , and Howard J. Langan.
Annmarie raised five children with love, strength, and grace. Education was her mission and life's passion. She began her career in education teaching at Sacred Heart School in West Covina, California. Balancing family life and her pursuit of knowledge, she returned to college at California State University, Los Angeles, and ultimately earned her Doctorate in Psychology from the University of Southern California (USC). She was USC’s oldest graduate that year at age 63. Annmarie served as a school psychologist in West Covina for over two decades, touching countless young lives, advocating for students, and supporting families addressing children’s mental, physical and emotional issues throughout her career.
Following her retirement, Annmarie moved to Laguna Niguel to be close to her children and grandchildren with her beloved dog Mollie. An active and devout Catholic, she was a faithful parishioner at both St. Edward the Confessor and St. Timothy Catholic Churches. Annmarie loved to win at the game of bridge, she would challenge anyone who dared to play. She lived a rich, full life surrounded by friends, enjoying her retirement years with the same warmth, intellect, and grace that defined her entire life.
