Barbara Anne DePol passed on June 17, 2022 peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones at the age of 89. Born February 17, 1933 in Jersey City, New Jersey, Barbara was the youngest of two, raised by Anne and John Mitchell. Barbara’s father passed away when she was just nine years old. It is in Jersey that she met her husband and started their family. On June 20, 1953 she married the love of her life, Robert DePol, they were married 67 years. June 18, 2020 Robert passed away; as if their love wasn't poetic enough, they were joined together again on what would have been their 69th wedding anniversary. Barbara, a woman of many talents, weaved her way through our lives like she did her crafts. Whether it was teaching her grandkids how to win at bunco, make the ultimate ice cream sundae, or making halloween costumes, she always put the Grandma touch on everything. Barbara’s love for travel sent her to places all over the world with her husband Robert, her brother John and his wife Eleanor Mitchell. They loved their cruises and you could often find them in Hawaii, Hilton Head or Palm Desert. Though there was a strong connection to the Italian side of her husband's family, she found a way to show off her Irish pride through her cooking. She loved to cook, taking great pride in feeding the masses for the large family gatherings that she hosted. She was also a talented artist, a hobby she continued late into her life; her artwork is displayed proudly throughout the house. Her artistry was not only felt on the walls of her home but in the beats of our hearts. Through her meticulous attention to detail and unique sense of style she not only created a beautiful space for her family but a home that holds the most cherished of memories. She is survived by daughters Cheryl Jacobs and Donna Peters, sons Bruce DePol and Richard DePol. Her grandchildren, Alison, Aaron, Lindsey, Kristi, Gray, Emily, Katie and Michelle will continue her legacy and forever honor her memory.
