Carol Ann Seward

SAN CLEMENTE – Carol Ann Seward went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 7, 2024, surrounded by family at her home in San Clemente, CA. She was 84 years old.

Born December 28, 1939, to Harry and Virginia Crutchfield, Carol was raised in Hawthorne, CA with her younger sister Betty and older brothers, Robert “Bob” and Theodore “Ted.” After graduating from Hawthorne High School and receiving her associate degree from El Camino College, Carol began a brief career at the Douglas Aircraft Company during the heyday of aviation.

Carol’s life forever changed when she fatefully met Charles “Chuck” Seward at Thousand Pines Christian Camp. The two wed on September 2, 1961, and soon after welcomed their three beloved boys: Gary, Steven, and Gregory. The family of five moved to San Clemente, CA in the mid-1960s and spent summers on the beach and backpacking in the mountains.

Carol dedicated herself to the Lord at a young age. As a choir member at the First Baptist Church of San Clemente, Carol was known for her ever-present smile and habit of singing with all her heart and soul. She led and ministered with the Joy of Living Bible Study for more than 40 years where she taught and discipled thousands of women. She would often call these years in ministry the most rewarding and fulfilling of her life.

A devoted grandmother to her seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, Carol was a constant cheerleader and source of true, unconditional, Christ-like love. Marked by joy and a knack for storytelling, she was the light of her family.

Carol is survived by her husband of 62 years, Chuck, her children (Gary and wife Kathy; Steve and wife Janet; Greg and wife Elvi), her grandchildren (Grace; Bronwyn; Madelyn; Brandon; Ethan; Jack and Zoe) and her great-grandchildren (Celestial and Synnove). She will be deeply missed by her friends, family, and all who knew her.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Shoreline Church in San Clemente, CA on Saturday, April 13 at 11:30 am followed by a reception to celebrate Carol’s life; all are welcome.
