Listen to Obituary

Having lived a fruitful, fulfilling life, Carolyn Ellen Eagan, beloved mother and friend, died peacefully on August 15, 2025, in San Clemente, California at the remarkable age of 100. She is lovingly known for her adventurous spirit, her kindness, her unyielding positivity, and her love of friends and family.

She was born Carolyn Ellen Dohm on January 12, 1925, in Los Angeles to Gilbert and Adele Dohm, the oldest of two children, predeceased by her brother Charles. Carolyn graduated from Los Angeles High School in 1943 and was a student at UCLA where she was a member of the Alpha Phi sorority.

After college, Carolyn was employed as a secretary in Los Angeles. In 1948, she met and married John Connor. They welcomed a son, John, their pride and joy. She divorced John and later married criminal defense attorney Rexford Eagan and became active in charitable organizations, including Lawyer’s Wives and Legal Aid, supporting the needs of indigent defendants.

Carolyn and Rex lived in Sherman Oaks, California, where she was actively involved in her son’s upbringing. She volunteered as a Little League team mom and a Cub Scout den mother, embracing her community with dedication.

After her divorce from Rex, Carolyn moved to Newport Beach and traveled with friends, experiencing many of the diverse cultures and geographies throughout the world. In 1984, she reconnected with her childhood beau John Robinson, with whom she lived in Carlsbad, California and with whom she traveled extensively. The particularly enjoyed attending each other’s high school and colleague reunions until John’s passing in 2001.

An avid reader, Carolyn enjoyed biographies, often finishing a book a week. Her favorite pastimes included bridge, completing each day’s newspaper crossword puzzle, and dining with friends and toasting to the good life. She was skilled chef and gracious hostess, creating delectable dishes for her guests at her dinner parties.

For the past seven years, she lived an assisted living facility in San Clemente, making new friends with whom she would share cherished memories; play cards, bingo, and scrabble; and watch movies on Turner Classics.

Carolyn is survived by her son John.

She lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
