With heavy hearts we share the sad news that Christina Brewer-Kahrs, 81, wife of the late Karl Kahrs, passed away on August 5, 2018, at her home in Laguna Beach, CA. She had just celebrated a fabulous vacation with her daughters and their families in the Mediterranean. Chris was born on October 25th, 1936, in Los Angeles. She was the daughter of Aloysius and Helen Esswein. Chris attended Cal State University Fullerton where she received a both her Bachelor's and Masters Degrees in Anthropology. She had a fulfilling career teaching Anthropology, Sociology and Archaeology at Cypress Community College for 4 years and then Saddleback Community College for 30 years. She was an ardent educator with her most memorable classes being her Archaeological Fields Methods and travel studies tours to the American Southwest. She enjoyed travelling and exploring different countries and cultures and was passionate about primates, American Indians, reading, attending the symphony and theater and most of all her family and friends. After retiring she enjoyed volunteering at the community library and senior center as well as the Archaeological Institute of America, Orange County Society. Chris is survived by her daughter Allyson Steines, her husband Jim, daughter Andrea Olsson, her husband Patrik and grandchildren Coleman and Claire Steines and Emma and Hannah Olsson. She is also survived by her siblings Delores Oppenheim and Tony Esswein. She leaves behind her beloved dog Schwartz who now has a home with Allys family. There will be a celebration of her incredible life over Labor Day weekend for her family and close friends. Invitations to follow.
