Cynthia Margaret Correia

June 11, 1942 — February 25, 2023

Cynthia Correia peacefully passed away on Saturday, February 25th, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones, at the age of 80. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many, and her passing has left a profound impact on those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Cynthia was born on June 11th, 1942, in Dighton, MA, to her parents, the late Alice and Joseph Perry. She grew up in a close-knit family with five siblings, including her late sister Kathleen "Kit" DeMoura, Elaine Rose, Alice Delawrence, Deborah Davis, and Joseph Perry, all of whom she loved dearly.

Cynthia found her soulmate in the late John Correia, and they were blessed with over two decades of love and togetherness. Cynthia was a devoted wife till the end, standing by John's side through his declining health and being there for him during his final moments. Together, they created beautiful memories that will be cherished forever. Now, they will be reunited once again, alongside their beloved dog, Diesel.

Their love was not limited to their personal life. They were a successful team as business owners of Cynthia's restaurant, which became a beloved establishment in the New Bedford community. Cynthia's infectious energy and sense of humor always brought a smile to the faces of her customers. She could often be found flipping pancakes onto people's plates from across the counter or cracking a joke to brighten someone's day. Her delicious food was just one reason people came to her restaurant; the main attraction was Cynthia herself.

Cynthia's greatest joy in life was her two children, Frank Louro, and the late Cara Pavao. They were the center of her world, and she poured her heart and soul into raising them. Though Cara is no longer with us, Cynthia's love for her daughter remained strong, and her memory will always be cherished.

Cynthia's legacy lives on through her son and her beautiful grandchildren, whom she adored with all her heart. Quinn Gonsalves, Kaycee Gonsalves, Erica Pavao, Dean Louro, and Zoey Louro were the light of her life, and she never missed a chance to show them her love and support. Cynthia was always there, to offer a hug, a kiss, or a word of encouragement, and her family knew that they could always count on her.

She was the "rock" of the family, selfless, the unshakeable, unwavering calm during life's storms. Her warmth and generosity touched all of them, and her legacy of love and kindness will continue to live on through her family. Cynthia's love and spirit will be with them always, and her memory will continue to inspire and guide them for eternity.

Cynthia was known for her honesty, selflessness, positive outlook on life, and her great sense of optimism and “one day at a time” approach. She had an amazing ability to read a room, always knowing just the right thing to say at the right time. Her personality was larger than life, her smile contagious, and she had an incredible ability to make people feel right at home. Despite her physical age, she maintained a youthful spirit until her last days.

We can take comfort in knowing that Cynthia's legacy will live on through the many lives she touched and the memories we hold dear. A Celebration of Life is planned for Cynthia later this spring in the New Bedford area, providing family and close friends with an opportunity to gather and welcome her back home. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Association in Cynthia’s memory would be deeply appreciated.

Rest in peace, Cynthia. You will be deeply missed and forever loved.
