Dorothy Elizabeth Fryer

89 Years Young

Dorothy Fryer, peacefully passed away surrounded by the love of her family, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, devotion, and strength. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, who will be greatly missed by the people she knew. Dorothy lived a remarkable life filled with love, family, faith, and cherished memories.

Dorothy was born on January 25, 1937, in South Bay, Canastota, New York, to Grace LaPearl Ray Moore and Glenn Willard Moore. She grew up on the family farm alongside her sister Marion, experiencing the joys of rural life and the close bonds of family and community. After the passing of her father when she was 15, Dorothy and her mother moved to Oneida, New York, where she completed her education at Oneida High School.

It was during high school that Dorothy met the love of her life, George W. Fryer. They attended the same church, First Presbyterian Church of Oneida, and shared a friendship that grew into a lifelong love. Dorothy and George were married on May 30, 1957, and began a marriage filled with adventure, faith, and devotion that lasted 61 wonderful years until George’s passing in 2018.

Together, Dorothy and George traveled through life’s many chapters, living in 14 different locations across the United States as George built a successful career in engineering and power plant construction. Along the way, they created a loving home and raised three children: Donald, Darrell, and Karen.

Dorothy was a devoted mother and grandmother who treasured her family above all else. She supported her children through every stage of life and celebrated their accomplishments, marriages, and growing families. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy.

While living in Monument, Colorado, Dorothy, and George built a beautiful home and became deeply involved at Sunrise church and the community. Dorothy worked for many years in education, spending 15 years at Buffalo High School in Minnesota and another 15 years at Douglas Valley Elementary School in Colorado Springs at the Air Force Academy. She loved to attend all their football games. She also treasured the friendships and relationships she built throughout her life, including the Air Force cadets she and George sponsored who became like family.

After George’s passing, Dorothy moved to Jackson Creek Retirement community in Monument and then on to San Clemente, California in 2022 to be closer to her son Darrell and his family. She enjoyed her years at SC Villas with her friends, and she was surrounded by love and visits from her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Dorothy will be remembered for her big smile, warm loving heart for everyone, unwavering faith, devotion to family, and gratitude for the blessings in her life. She often expressed how fortunate she felt to have such a loving family and was proud of the generations that followed.

She leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a family who will continue to love and honor her forever.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 27, 2026, at Crossline Church in Laguna Hills, CA at 12pm Pacific Time. The location is 23331 Moulton Parkway, Laguna Hills, CA 92653.

She will be laid to rest next to her husband, George, at Stockbridge Cemetery in Munnsville, NY.

This organization was especially meaningful to Dorothy through Darrell’s own journey with trigeminal neuralgia and his dedication to helping others around the world who suffer from this painful condition. The Facial Pain Association provides support, education, and resources for those affected by facial pain while advancing research toward finding better treatments and, ultimately, a cure.
