Elizabeth (Betty) M. Billings passed away on April 28, 2021 She was born to William Maley and Florence Whyte Maley on April 22, 1933 in Houston, Texas. It was at the University of Houston where she met Edward S. Billings and fell in love. They married on October 19, 1957 and left Houston immediately to start a life of adventure. They moved to Nashville then Denver, Kansas City, St. Louis and back to Denver. In 1976 they moved to Arlington, VA where they stayed until retirement. Along the way, Betty tried various careers, including real estate and accounting, but she always returned to teaching. She could teach anyone anything. She helped found the first Headstart preschool program in Denver. She taught middle and high school science. She ended her career teaching bank examiners how to use computers. She was warm and approachable in the classroom and students of all ages learned easily from her. Betty is survived by her son Ted Billings, his partner Brad Miller, her daughter Jessie Billings, and her son-in-law Myron Eng. Her beloved granddaughters Faren and Phoebe Eng will miss her terribly. Her husband predeceased her. The family would like to thank the staff at Regent’s Point and Windcrest for the care they have given Betty over the years, particularly towards the end. We would also like to thank the staff at Silverado Hospice Care.
