Eloisa Diaz Sandoval

August 22, 1925 — April 9, 2022

Eloisa Diaz Sandoval was born on August 22, 1925, to Petra Moronez Diaz and Victor Duran Diaz in Las Cruces, New Mexico She is one of eleven children and had a huge love of family. Eloisa was happiest when she was together with her family enjoying good food, wine, and music. Music was always an integral part of her home. The radio or record player was always playing Rancheras, or Big Band music or love songs and she had a beautiful voice. Eloisa is survived by her two daughters, Patricia (Patsy) Diana Piceno and Kathy Irene Fernandez. She has four grandchildren: Tricia Martinez, Philip Piceno, David Piceno and Daniel Fernandez. She deeply loved her grandchildren, always looking for sales so she could buy them clothes. She would look forward to spending time with them and affectionately grabbing their nose or lovingly giving them a little tap on the cheek. She has three great grandchildren: Oliver Fernandez, Niccolo Piceno, Xiomara Piceno and a fourth due any day. Eloisa moved from New Mexico to San Pedro California at the age of 18. Slowly others followed, her brother Salvador Diaz and her sisters Celia Puga, Manuela Villaloboz, Maria Fresquez and Julia Rubalcava. Her remaining sister Virginia Diaz remained in New Mexico along with her brothers, Joe, Victor, Lorenzo and Raymundo Diaz. Eloisa worked at the Cannery on Terminal Island for almost 40 years and did all she could for her two daughters. Eloisa made her home in San Pedro until 1993, when she moved to Santa Maria to be near her daughter Patsy. She was an avid gardener and she loved working in her yard, once even winning an award for her front yard in Santa Maria. She prized the certificate she received and framed it. She also had many friends she had met in church and loved to cook for them. In 2010 Eloisa moved to Orange County to be near her daughter Kathy. She passed away peacefully on April 9, 2022, with her daughters by her side. She is survived by one sister, Manuela Villaloboz and one brother, Raymundo Diaz.
