Evelia Hunn was born Evelia Vital in Mexico in 1945. She came to the United States in 1962 with her family. Her mother, Tinidad, told her that the USA was the best country in the world because every person has the opportunity to be successful if they are willing to work for it. Evelia quickly learned English and worked at a pottery shop where she met her future husband, Francis (Piney) Hunn. They were married for 53 years before Piney preceded her in death in 2019. Evelia became an American citizen in 1976 and reinforced the message that her mother had given her early in life, “Work hard and you will succeed.” They raised a daughter, Grace Elliot, who became a teacher and married Nash Elliot. Evelia helped raise two grandsons, Luke and Dustin Elliot. Evelia was blessed to live long enough to see both grandsons graduate from college. Evelia was kind, generous and could light up a room with her smile and laugh. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
