Fay Van Oostendorp

November 27, 1935 — February 16, 2022

Fay Van Oostendorp was born in Salina, Utah on November 27th, 1935 and passed away on February 16th, 2022 at the age of 86 in Mission Viejo, California. She found peace surrounded by family who will strive to honor her memory by living their lives to the fullest. She was born to her loving mother, La Vina Alvey and father, Allan Wallace Pollock. She was raised in Escalante, Utah, where she spent her childhood with her brother, Guy Pollock. She attended College in Utah and eventually met Victor Van Oostendorp, whom she married on June 24th, 1958 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Both practiced their strong faith as active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Later, Fay and Victor moved to California where Victor was employed as an educator and Fay worked as a bank teller for some time and raised her two daughters, Stacy and Melinda. Fay is survived by her daughter Stacy Bachman, two grandchildren: Nichole Ashley Hollingsworth and Amanda Jones-Aslinger, an adopted grandson upon Nichole’s marriage: Chris Hollingsworth, four great grandchildren: Aiden, Priscilla, Shayla and Izaiah, and her nephew: Stanley Pollock. Fay also helped raise her grandchildren, Amanda and Nichole, of which the family was very grateful for her support over the years. Victor and Fay enjoyed their retirement in St. George, Utah, where she enjoyed attending church every Sunday, visiting with dear friends, and always making a fashion statement with her matching assemble: floral dresses, jackets, bows, jewelry, and shoes! She found enjoyment in sharing hobbies, like yoga and meditation, with friends at the local senior center. Fay moved to Huntington Beach, California in the summer of 2017, where she lived with her daughter Stacy Bachman, granddaughter Nichole Hollingsworth, adopted grandson Chris Hollingsworth, and four dogs: Chance, Roxy, Cheyenne and Cali. She stated she would never live with dogs in the house but over the years became attached to them, just not so much their sock snatching, barking, and shedding hair. We are grateful for the cherished memories we have shared while living together such as fourth of July rocket launches, Christmases, birthdays, watching movies, going out for celebration dinners, dog walks, attending church, and quarantine hair styling sessions. She was a spunky and funny woman, always caught up on the celebrity gossip and enjoyed watching reality television and Shark Tank. We love you more than all the diamonds in the sky and you will have a special place within our hearts forever! May you be at peace and walk in beautiful gardens filled with sunshine and endless fields of sunflowers. Just know we are grateful for all the happiness and support you gave us!
