Faye Canary passed away on December 4, 2018 in San Juan Capistrano, California with many of her children and grandchildren by her side. She was 95. Faye was born in 1923 in St. Louis, Missouri to Marianna and Alphonse Palazzolo, both of whom had recently immigrated from Sicily. Faye was barely four years old when her father died. With the support of many aunts, uncles, and relatives, Faye, along with her younger brother and mother, persevered through the Great Depression on her way to building her life as a wonderful, strong, and loving American woman. In 1943 Faye married Lou Canary. No sooner had they married when Lou was drafted into the Army and sent to serve in Europe during WWII. Upon Lous return to the U.S. and release from the Army, they settled in St. Louis and began raising their family. In 1955 Lou was offered a job promotion which required re-location to Southern California. The family settled in Anaheim where it continued to grow. Life was not always easy for Faye. For many years, while raising seven children, Faye worked full time in order to help provide for her family. She never, ever complained. When times were tough Faye was a model of perseverance, fortitude, and self-reliance. In 1974 the family moved to Redding, California where Faye worked and lived for the next 44 years. In Redding Faye was active in several church related service organizations and had many wonderful friends who loved her and enjoyed her company. Faye was preceded in death by her husband Lou, who passed away in 1986. She is survived by her sons Jim, Bob (Cheryl), and Lew (Wendy); daughters Marilyn (Bob) Medley, Joanne (Jim) Cowan, Donna (Souhail) Toubia, and Fara (Wayne) Young Woodliff; and her 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. We will all miss her dearly and remember her with great love and admiration. A celebration of Fayes life will take place at a later date in Redding, California.
