Gary Alan Perkins

July 12, 1940 — December 10, 2024

Gary Alan Perkins, 84, of Laguna Niguel, passed away on December 10, 2024. He was surrounded by his loving family and passed peacefully at home.

Gary was born in Los Angeles, CA, on July 12, 1940 to Mildred and Russell Perkins. After graduating from Gardena High in 1958, he, along with his best friend, opened a silk screening business. He continued in that industry until his retirement.

In 1965, Gary wed Virginia (Ginger) Cousin. They welcomed their son, Randall, and 7 years later, their daughter Julie. They eventually settled in Laguna Niguel in 1979.

Gary was known for his keen sense of humor and no one was exempt from his teasing. He loved few things more than an ice cold glass of milk and a heavily salted meal while engineering the next phase of hot rod restoration. Throughout his life, he enjoyed drag racing cars and boats. His prize possessions were a 1938 Buick and a 1969 Rayson Craft. More than anything, he loved his family and friends. There was never a time when he was not available when called upon. He has driven a friend’s motorhome cross country when they had cancer and couldn’t drive it. Gary killed spiders for wife when they dared stomp across the ceilings. He helped his son build the engine for his first car and he slept at the foot of his daughter’s bed when she was sick. His actions spoke volumes about the depth of his love for those he cared about. He will be missed more than words can convey.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Ginger, children Randall and Julie, his brother, Dennis, his daughter-in-law, Vivian, and grandchildren Kiley and Drew.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Perkins home at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Beagle Freedom Project, as beagles were always his favorite pets.
