George Eddie Sloniger Jr.

George Eddie Sloniger Jr., known to his friends as “Eddie”, a beloved husband, father, and Papa passed away Sunday, March 7, 2021. He was 79. Eddie was born on January 28, 1942 to George and Marian Sloniger in Los Angeles, California. At the age of one his family moved to Chicago, Illinois where he spent his childhood years.  When he was 11 years old his family moved to Garden Grove, California. He was the oldest child with two younger sisters. After graduation from Mater Dei High School Eddie left for Logan Utah where he attended and graduated from Utah State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology.  While in Logan he met and married his wife, of 58 years, Nancy Maughan.  They settled in Irvine, California in 1970 where they raised two daughters (Debbie and Lisa) and one son (Jeffrey). Most of Eddie’s 40-year professional career was spent as President of West Coast Skate in Orange, CA.  Where he manufactured and distributed skateboards, roller skates and sporting goods.    Eddie is remembered by his children and grandchildren for having a generous heart, someone who they could always count on and for his fun-loving disposition.  He had a love of maps, geography, cars, and country music.  His vast knowledge of information and facts about everything was truly amazing.  He was like a walking almanac.  He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. Gone from our sight but never from our hearts.  Eddie is survived by his wife, Nancy, two daughters Debbie Asplund, Lisa Dorst, son Jeffrey Sloniger and his wife Stacie.  9 grandchildren: Rachel, Jared, Amanda, and Blake Asplund.  Lindsay and Cassidy Dorst. Sara, Spencer and Jack Sloniger.  Two sisters Jill Lee and Daryl Kopeny.
