Geraldine (Geri) Joan Grignano Nickname: Cokey

February 1, 1933-December 20, 2023

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Geri. She lived to the incredible age of over 90 years.

Geraldine Joan was born in Hollywood, CA. She joined the Air Force after graduating from high school where she worked as a radio mechanic based at Andrews Air Force Base in Washington D.C. Geri’s enlistment was near the start of the Women's Armed Services Integration Act which allowed women to serve. She was awarded the National Defense Service Medal for her service. She served in the Air Force until her marriage to Joseph Grignano.

Geri had four children, Patty Oroz, Joseph/Joe (deceased), Nancy Vickery, and Susan McNamara.

Geri worked for over 20 years for the Santee School District as a Health Clerk before retiring.

Geri lived the last 20 years of her life near her daughter Susan and her family in Laguna Niguel, CA. She was known as Cokey to her family that was adopted in lieu of grandma. She volunteered at the Laguna Niguel Senior Center and was a member of the Red Hat Society. Through the senior center and her senior living, Geri participated in many day trips, social gatherings, Bunko, bingo, and much more. Geri loved spending time with her daughter Susan and her grandchildren Lily and Liam. Geri was an avid reader and loved to share and trade novels with friends and family. Her fondest and exciting moments of her life were driving her convertible Miata around Laguna Niguel.

Geraldine is survived by her grandchildren, three great grandchildren, three daughters, two son in laws, as well as her husband of 68 years. She is preceded in death by her son Jospeh and granddaughter Maryn Oroz.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to boystown.org or CHOC Hospital .
