Eleni Drakos Deam
Beloved Mother, Grandmother and Friend passed peacefully on October 23 at Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo. Those who had the privilege of calling Eleni a friend had the benefit of being in the presence of a caring, loving, and loyal person. Her kind spirit and warm infectious personality were evident to those who have known her for years as well as those who she had just met. Her family cherished her love, wisdom, and grace. When any of us needed guidance, a bit of encouragement, old world advice, or just a hug, it was Mom who we would always rely on. Eleni was born in the tiny village of Vresthena, just outside of Sparta, Greece. Upon arriving in Southern California at the age of 17 she made many lifelong friends while living in Los Angeles and working at the famous Sea Lion Restaurant in Malibu. Eleni went on to successfully operate her brother’s premiere salon in Orange County; eventually working her way to co-owner. She also launched her own prosperous boutique in San Clemente. Ultimately Eleni became a savvy real estate investor and was able to travel the world visiting many countries that she desired. Settling down in Dana Point in early 1987, where she raised her son Chris and daughter Tammy, she became a vital member of her adopted community, which she loved so much through volunteer efforts and church activities. Eleni was most proud of her three grandchildren - Benjamin, Jack and Charlie. She was so proud when speaking about their countless school and life achievements. Just seeing "the boys" on a Tuesday afternoon would bring her so much joy. Eleni will be dearly missed by all who knew her for her dedication to God, family, friends and community; Always following the philosophy that it’s best to forgive and forget. THANK YOU FOR ALL THAT YOU TAUGHT US and for ALL OF YOUR LOVE. WE WERE SO BLESSED to HAVE HAD YOU. WE LOVE YOU MOM & YAYA.
