Janice Marie Everett

Janice 'Jan' Marie (Shafer) Everett, 80, wife of James Jay Everett of Anaheim, passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2018. She passed in the presence of her family surrounded with much love and adoration. Jan was born July 4, 1938 in Bell, CA, the daughter of James Arthur and Doris Mae Shafer. Janice graduated from Bell High School, where she met her sweetheart, and love of her life, James Jay Everett. They were married on August 7, 1959 in Bell, California. They lived in the state of Washington during her husbands college football days, and returned to California living first in Hollydale, then Whittier, and eventually settling in Anaheim. Jan was a homemaker and supporter of her husbands High School teaching and coaching career for many years. She later worked at UC Irvine Medical Center until she retired. During retirement she enjoyed gardening, traveling, boogie boarding, walks on the beach, reading, bird watching, genealogy and being an avid activist for her favorite causes. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Janice is survived by her loving husband James, children Jim and Barbara Everett, Brian and Cindy Everett, and Brian and Michelle (Everett) Foster. She had a special place in her heart for her seven grandchildrenEmily, Alex, Eric, Molly, Hannah, Caleb, and Brooke. She also adored her four great grandchildrenEleanor, Noah, Ruby, and Wyatt. She is also survived by her sister and Brother-in-law Marsha (Shafer) and Tom Frazier and her sister-in-law Patricia (Everett) Shepherd, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. There will be a celebration of life at Cypress Community Center in Cypress, CA on Sunday, December 9, 2018 from 2:00-4:00 pm. The family requests that those attending dress in casual attire, wear bright colors, and come with happy thoughts. She was an amazing wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed every day. She has now left her earthly cocoon and her spirit is soaring among the butterflies.
