In Loving Memory of Jeanette L. Thomann

Jeanette L. Thomann, 85, of Laguna Woods, CA passed peacefully away November 21, 2023 from cardiac arrest. Born in 1938 to German immigrant parents in Buffalo, NY, she graduated from Mount St. Mary Academy in 1956 before earning her Bachelor of Science in Education from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1961. Initially a home economics teacher, she went on to get certified in early elementary education in 1969 and taught pre- school in upstate NY. Jeanette married her former spouse, the late Ronald J. Thomann (d. 2018) in 1958 and had three children: Christopher Thomann, Jennifer Reesha (Joseph) Alpino and Beth Marie (Curt) Nierman.

Jeanette was an extraordinary homemaker and mother, but she also shared her talents outside the home. In addition to teaching, she held positions

in health and nutrition, office administration, culinary demonstration and small business ownership. She opened and operated The European Country Shoppe in Westerville, Ohio before relocating to Laguna Woods, CA where she was a resident for almost 25 years and actively participated in many clubs and activities.

Jeanette had a life-long love for art and music and spent many hours at her piano playing both classical music and Christian hymns. She was also an accomplished seamstress, aspiring watercolorist, and talented gardener. Her most passionate purpose, particularly in her later years, was her love of people and the opportunity to introduce them to Jesus. Jeanette’s corner patio and succulent garden was the backdrop for many neighborhood meet and greets and afternoon chats.

Aside from her three children, Jeanette is survived by her grandchildren: Angela, Ryan and Christina Thomann; Zachary Reesha; Sam and Rachel Nierman; three great grandchildren and sister Marianne Lynch. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Grace Hills Church, 24521 Moulton Parkway, Aliso Viejo, CA. 92637.
