Keith Edwin Dunn

Keith Dunn passed away on May 30, 2024 from complications of cystitis and dementia, two months after his ninety-third birthday. He is survived by his wife of more than 47 years, Susan, a half-sister, three children, eight grand and seven great-grand children.

Keith was the 2nd child of Glenn and Roberta Dunn. All born in Hugo, OK. He had lifetime right-side paralysis from an injury when home-birthed. After his sister died weeks after her birth, his parents divorced, and Keith’s mother went back to her parents’ home in Weatherford, OK to raise the 2 sons. He graduated from Colorado State University and married a CSU classmate. After his 1957 graduation, they moved to Anchorage, AK, where their two sons were born, and he taught elementary school for three years. A former CSU roommate told him of a job opening at his Santa Ana intermediate school so, without an interview, he moved his family to CA in 1960. He earned other credentials and advanced degrees to become a secondary teacher, coach, driver’s education instructor and administrator. Five years after his second marriage, his daughter was born and raised in Lake Forest. Before his retirement from Santa Ana Unified in 2004, he had worked at six schools: Smedley (Carr) Intermediate, SA Valley HS, McFadden, Lathrop, Sierra and Spurgeon Intermediates.

Keith will be inurned at El Toro Memorial Park, Lake Forest, in LA Block, space 21. A celebration of life is planned later this summer
