Lelia C. “Lee” Crevier, age 96, of Laguna Woods, California, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2023.
Lelia “Lee” was born on October 26, 1926 to John and Mary Massa in Long Island, New York. Lelia graduated from Bridgeport Central High School in 1944.
After graduating with an Associates of Arts degree she had a long and successful career, spanning 28 years with Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA. In the early eighties, her affiliation with JPL, led to her accompanying her husband Douglas on a three year stint in Canberra, Australia. He led the team at the satellite tracking station in the outback at Tidbinbilla and she charmed every visiting dignitary.
She didn’t always work surrounded by rocket scientists and engineers and on that one occasion, Prince (now King) Charles. Her early career was spent as an Executive Assistant to the President of Capital Records, during their hey day. They had just moved into the famous round building on Vine in Hollywood (an architectural marvel) and Lelia was even featured in the brochure. It was a fascinating and lively job that had Jerry Lewis jumping on her desk, while singing to Dean Martin and then there was that day Frank Sinatra asked her out.
Lelia loved three men in her life: Sterling Roland “Bud” Carlson, Robert B. “Bob” Crevier, and Douglas “Doug” Mudgeway. She went on to have two children, Roland John Carlson and Corinne C. Crevier. She also had a Step-Son Donald J. Crevier.
She was a passionate woman, who loved cooking, entertaining, sailing, driving fast cars, traveling, golf, all things Italian and had a beautiful singing voice. She also had a wicked sense of humor and an infectious laugh that would light up any room.
Lelia is predeceased by her son Roland John Carlson and is survived by her daughter Corinne Crevier and step-son Don Crevier.
She spent her retired years surrounded by family and the close friends she made in her twenty years living in Laguna Woods, CA. Lelia will be forever remembered by the family and friends who loved her. She was an extraordinary woman who will be greatly missed by all.
Services will be held privately at Sea on November 30th, 2023. In lieu of flowers, her family and close friends request that donations be made to the following organizations that Lelia cherished:
Boys and Girls Club of Laguna Beach and or the Disabled Veterans.
