Mr. Lung Kuang Cheng was born on September 29, 1925 in Yancheng, Jiangsu Province, China. In 1949, during the Chinese Civil War, he fled to Taiwan alone, without any family members. Under these extremely challenging circumstances, he managed to complete his college education, receiving his bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering at the Tainan Institute of Technology, later renamed as Chenggong University.

After graduation, he worked in the Taipei Highway Bureau where he helped build the Taiwan East-West Crossing Highway. After meeting Ms. Yu-ning Yeh, a graduate of National Taiwan Normal University, they married in 1960. He is survived by his wife Irene (Yu-ning) Cheng, his two daughters and one son.

Mr. Cheng had an exceptional career working as a Civil Engineer. He was sent by the government of Taiwan (Republic of China) to help with construction projects in Thailand, the U.S. Territory of Guam, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, and Singapore. Those projects included building bridges, highways, dams, subways and other major construction projects. Mr. Cheng’s work not only helped to improve the infrastructure of those countries and territories, but also performed a diplomatic service for the government of Taiwan for 35 years.

While Mr. Cheng was proud of his work accomplishments, he regretted not spending time with his family because he was working overseas. However, his family understood the purpose of his hard work was to give his family a better life by providing them with financial support. After retirement, he enjoyed the family time he missed, especially playing with his grandkids in sunny Southern California. Those last 25 years were the happiest times of his life.

Mr. Lung Kuang Cheng’s charisma and leadership was admired by many of his work subordinates and peers. He was a good boss, husband, father, and grandfather. His resonating voice and hearty laugh will always be remembered.
