Fun-loving, happy, and kind are just a few of the words that describe Michael "Mike" Knapp. On the morning of Saturday, June 27, 2026, his family and many dear friends lost a brilliant spark, but his warmth, humor, generous spirit, and unwavering love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Born on January 4, 1955, in Lexington, Kentucky, Mike spent his childhood in Illinois before attending college in Florida. After completing his education, he returned to Illinois, where he began what would become a remarkable 35-year career with W. R. Meadows.
Mike joined W. R. Meadows in 1985 at the company's corporate headquarters in Hampshire. He started in inside and outside sales, serving customers throughout Indiana and Kentucky, and in 1987 was honored as W. R. Meadows Salesperson of the Year. The following year, he relocated to Southern California to help expand the company's presence in the region. Soon after, Mike played an important role in supporting the companies branch opening in Southern California where he was named General Manager. Mike led with integrity, dedication, and respect until his retirement in 2020.
Mike took great pride in his work and in the relationship’s he built throughout his career. As the son of Donald Knapp, former President and Chief Financial Officer of W. R. Meadows, he was proud to continue his family's legacy with the company. He was admired for his strong work ethic, honesty, leadership, and genuine care for those around him, and many of his coworkers became lifelong friends.
Mike is survived by his wife, Linda, with whom he shared a wonderful life in Orange County, California. Together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. He is also survived by his sister in Texas, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will forever treasure the moments they shared with him.
After a courageous journey with dementia, Mike passed away peacefully at home, facing the disease with quiet strength, grace, and dignity.
Mike leaves behind a legacy of laughter, resilience, generosity, and countless beautiful memories. He had an infectious smile, a quick wit, and an extraordinary ability to make others feel welcome. Whether spending time with family, enjoying the company of friends, mentoring coworkers, or lending a helping hand, Mike embraced every moment and truly lived life to the fullest.
Although Mike's passing leaves an immeasurable void, those who knew him will remember a man who loved deeply, laughed often, and made every room brighter simply by being in it. His memory will forever be treasured by his family, friends, coworkers, and all whose lives he touched.
