Michael Maher, who was most often referred to as Mike, was born in the borough of Queens, N.Y. on Aug 4th 1955 to Joseph Maher and Mary Jane Friedel. He unexpectedly passed away too soon at the age of 70 on Feb 9th 2026. He lived the first fifteen years of his seventy-year life in the borough of Queens, New York City as well as many years in Long Island in New York and the bulk of his years in California. Additionally, he lived in Tennessee, Arizona, New Jersey, Kansas and Louisiana.

To his credit, Mike had many passions and abilities. Among them was his love for music, he was an excellent artist, playing the guitar and piano beautifully and he loved to sing as well. As his wife Sally exclaimed, “Can't forget the music, singing with the radio, or without-so good! Collected guitars, piano, good thing no drums.”

Mike was also highly proficient with computers, utilizing his background and education in computer engineering. He was able to figure out virtually any problem that presented itself. Along with his proficiency with computers, he was also highly skilled when it came to the trades. When he put his mind to it, he was able to start and complete potentially very complicated home renovations with the skill and accuracy of a skilled tradesman; he was quite the perfectionist!

On a personal level, Mike was an amazing person with a vibrant personality and a great sense of humor. He could always deal with life on its own terms without it changing his very positive attitude and light-heartedness. Whenever a friend or family member was in need of a hand, or emotional support, he was always there to help and intently listen. As his wife Sally stated, “If I had a question, I would ask you first. You always had an answer that I could trust...” This is the man that those who knew him, came to trust and love.

He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Maher and Mary Jane Friedel, his sister Gayle Lawlor and his brother Gary Maher and is also survived by his wife Sally Maher, his sister Lorrie Beauchamp, as well as three brothers Bruce Maher, James Maher and Steven Maher. Michael is also survived by nine nieces and nephews Kelly Delima, Stephanie Wilkinson, Joseph Lawlor, Miguel Beauchamp, Steven Beauchamp, Steven Maher, Dereck Maher, Craig Lawlor, and Fasha Maher.

In saying goodbye for now Sally put it best “My heart is broken to say goodbye too soon, to you Mike.” This certainly was the way all of us, who knew and loved him, feel at this very sad moment but comforted knowing that we will meet again someday.

All our love Mike; you will be remembered for the rest of our lives, rest in peace.
