Norman F. Manion, aged 87, passed away on October 25, 2026. Norman died peacefully at home in Tustin, California surrounded by his family. Norman was born on June 16, 1939 in Taunton, Massachusetts to Norman Manion Sr., and Alice Garceau. The family moved to Leicester, Massachusetts when he was young, where he graduated from Leicester High School in 1956. Eager to see the world and serve his country, he joined the United States Navy and served as a naval engineer aboard the USS Kearsarge. During his service, he spent time in San Diego and fell in love with Southern California’s climate, lifestyle and people. He moved there permanently in 1961 and eventually settled in Tustin. Norman worked as an electronics engineer for 45 years, helping develop the first bar code scanners and making many lifelong friends along the way. He cherished time with his sons Michael and Randy, especially camping and riding motorcycles in the desert, attending sporting events, and cheering on the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. Norman met Susan Yusi in 1990, who would become his wife of 34 years. They married in 1992, and he was welcomed by a large, loving family that became his own. In retirement, he became a skilled woodworker, making many pieces of heirloom furniture. He and Susan loved to travel and visit friends and family, sharing decades of love and a fulfilling retirement. Throughout his life, Norman was known for his warm, jovial nature and positive outlook. These qualities endeared him to everyone fortunate enough to know him. He is survived by his wife Susan Manion, son Randy and daughter in law Kim Jennings, as well as his step sons Michael Yusi, his wife Diane, and Chris Yusi and his wife Dawne, as well as five grandchildren and a large extended family. He will be missed deeply by them all.
