It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Patricia "Pat" Spencer from Capistrano Beach, CA on May 8, 2026. Pat was a treasured lady known for her love of family, generosity, creativity and kindness. Pat was born on September 19, 1946 in Tampa Florida.
Pat devoted her life to the education of young people. She herself had a PHD in education and retired as the President of Victor Valley Community College. She was also a strong advocate for young children and adults, especially young girls, who were victims of sex trafficking, putting both time and resource into the recovery of such victims. Through her generosity she supported the organizations that provided for the needy (food drives, toy drives, etc.) She was also a regular contributor to St. Judes Children Hospital in the fight against childhood cancer.
Pat is survived by her husband, Michael Spencer, who loves her dearly as does her son Jeffrey, her granddaughter Rhyan who she adored, her brother Neil Parker, her daughter-in-law Lindsey and her sister-in-law Annette Parker.
Pat was a talented writer and it was her passion in her retirement. She authored numerous books most of which were based on historical fiction. She won almost every writing contest she entered. Even in her working years she authored a regular beauty column in the Riverside Press Enterprise as well as the Inland Empire Magazine.
Pat was an avid golfer and she and her husband played together most of their 58 years of marriage They also traveled extensively. Her favorite trip was to Africa which was the basis for a trilogy she wrote Sticks in a Bundle". They traveled to such places as Australia, New Zealand, Greece, Croacia, The Galapagos Islands and Europe numerous times. They lived in Germany for a year when younger and traveled to other countries in Europe in their VW "bug and Europe's fabulous train system.
Pat will be greatly missed by her family and many friends who are mourning her passing. Her greatest wish was to be remembered in life and not death. She was and is a beacon of light in her family's life even in her year long battle with cancer.
Pat requested that in lieu of any flowers or such, a donation to St. Judes Children Hospital be made in her name.
