Patrick Faunt passed away on September 20, 2023 at the age of 79 in Irvine, CA. His positive mentality and love of life didn’t falter when he was diagnosed with cancer in 2020. He remained strong and optimistic to protect his loved ones from pain, an outlook that likely fortified his fight against cancer.
We will remain inspired by this strength and try to carry on his legacy of humor and unwavering support for family. If you’d listen to him, his kids and grandkids could do no wrong and he always put our needs first, never letting his pride in who we are and what we’ve accomplished go unspoken.
Patrick’s love of life was conspicuous through his devotion to family, but he was also an avid runner, an intellectual with a love of reading and curiosity about science, a true citizen with a passion for politics, ardent Bears fan, all-around sport fanatic, film buff, and music enthusiast. No topic of discussion was off limits, no family activity worth missing, and he’d lend help to anyone who might benefit from his carpentry skills. His appreciation for manual labor contributed to a skill set in maintenance and construction trades, playing a strong role in both his career path and personal life.
Aside from his legendary jokes, his most frequent declaration was, “I have the single greatest family in the world.” Patrick is survived by his children Sue Faunt, Jason Faunt and his wife Angela Lin-Faunt, Rebecca Stockwell and her husband Brandon Stockwell, and Ian Faunt. He leaves behind his pride and joy, his grandchildren: Keira Faunt, Makayla Faunt, Hunter Stockwell, and Mason Stockwell, with one granddaughter on the way, Meiomi Faunt. He is also survived by his older brother Michael Faunt and wife Sharon Faunt, nieces Kathy Faunt and Edna Spike, and nephew Michael John Faunt.
He asked that we not have a service, so we’ll be holding a small get-together to honor the important role he had in each of our lives. Please feel free to post memories or jokes, and we’ll share them at this gathering. We’ll also be taking one last adventure with him, a whale watching charter, where we’ll release his ashes into the Pacific Ocean.
In his memory, be sure to tell your loved ones how proud you are of them. Appreciate the steady parental support and encouragement while you have it. Patrick consistently donated money to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, you are welcome to make a donation on his behalf.
