Richard Dennis Raines

Richard (Dick) passed this life peacefully in San Clemente, California, with his family by his side. He was 78 years old and was born in Fullerton, California to his parents Helen Nadine Lewis and George Norris Raines. Dick, graduated from Newport Harbor High School, attended Orange Coast College where he received an Associates degree and completed Fire courses at Santa Ana City College. Dick had a 37 year career with the Costa Mesa Fire Department as Engineer and Captain until his retirement in 2000. Captain Raines was respected and honored by the many fine men serving with him, truly a brotherhood. Dick lived his life with honor, wisdom, strength and loving respect for all others. He was a role model to those he touched in his life that were lucky enough to spend time with him. We thank God for our time with this special human, he taught us life lessons that will carry on through his family. He will always be at Lindas side, the love of his life for 58 years. Devotion to his family was his passion; he guided his daughters, granddaughters and family gently with his humor and unending love. We say goodbye to a kind, loving and extraordinary husband, father and grandfather that fought a long difficult cancer battle. Dick is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Linda (Preston) Raines, daughters Lori Shultz, Janell Orgill; granddaughters Krosby Myers (Mike); Kialy Orgill (Tyler); Lacey Souza (Stephen); Kelsey Medeiros (Kona), grandson Kyle Shultz; great granddaughter McKynlee Myers; sister Judie Hastings ( Bim), nephews, Michael Hastings, Richard Preston, Ronald Preston; nieces; Jaan Wilson, Jill Wiley. A celebration of life will be held Saturday December 29, 2018 10:00 am at The Shoreline Church 211 Avenida Fabricante San Clemente, Ca. 92672.
