Remembering the Life of Richard Harding Marks 11/15/34 - 12/10/20 Dad grew up in Boston, Massachusetts and moved to California in his early 20’s. Dad taught me to appreciate nature, my love of animals and all forms of art. He was a quiet, calm and steady presence in our lives. But he loved a bit of adventure – in his love of exotic food and his life. In 1973, he and Mom drove back east in our VW van visiting friends and family along the way, then sailed across the “pond” camping all around Europe visiting museums and enjoying locals. At one point, they took a wrong turn ending up behind the “iron curtain”. Thank goodness, they convinced the officials they were simply tourists with poor directional skills. Dad enjoyed creating lovely pottery, all kinds of music, movies, yoga, gardening and both he and Mom always loved reading. Dad experienced good health throughout most of his life but suffered from a heart attack in September 2017. He recuperated and moved from San Diego County to an apartment near us which gave him the ability to walk everywhere and enjoy an excellent quality of life. We were able to enjoy his company until mid-2020 when his health started deteriorating. He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and Tom and sister, Audrey.
