Richard Mellenger

Richard Edward Mellenger, 73, husband to Suzanne Rolls Mellenger for fifty years, passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2018 peacefully in their home. He is also survived by his daughters, Erin Miller and Morgan Mellenger. Rick was born September 27, 1944 in Buffalo, New York. He was the son of the late Henry J. Mellenger and Mildred Figura Mellenger. He is the brother of Thomas Mellenger and James Mellenger. He has six grandchildren whom he adored: Dove, Rowan, Zoey, Summer, Bonnie and Eugene. Rick graduated from Canisius College in 1966 with a bachelors degree in Accounting and from State University of New York at Buffalo in 1969 with a law degree. He was appointed Assistant U. S. Attorney for the Western Region of New York for several years. He and Suzanne moved to San Juan Capistrano in 1978, where he practiced law in Newport Beach and in Mission Viejo. He was an avid sailor for many years on Lake Erie and loved ocean racing in the Pacific. The family spent many weekends vacationing in Avalon Bay on their boat.
