Robert John Corsaro

July 1, 1928 — May 28, 2021

Robert John Corsaro was born July 1, 1928. He was the son of Angelina and Bart, the husband of Joan, the father of Christine, Carol, John, Jennifer, Donna, and Dolores, the grandfather of 13 grandchildren and the great grandfather of 8, with more on the way. Robert grew up in an Italian neighborhood in Chicago during the Depression. As a young boy, he enjoyed playing baseball with his friends and going to the movies. After high school, he enlisted in the military and was stationed in Japan as a member of General MacArthur's Honor Guard. He attended De Paul University after his service. He pursued the American Dream - starting from nothing, he died a wealthy man. He met his wife Joan at the Santa Fe Railroad, where they both worked. She thought he was handsome until his last day. They were married May 29, 1954. They had 7 children together, the first, Julie, died as an infant. Robert spent his career at Unocal, the company that brought him and Joan to Southern California. He started in a warehouse rolling maps and eventually retired as the head of purchasing. His work took him all over the world - Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East - and gave him an opportunity to enjoy his favorite pastime, golf, on some of the best courses, including St. Andrews. Robert retired in San Clemente where he enjoyed walking his golden retriever on the beach. He was a devout Catholic and member of the Knights of Columbus. Robert was impatient and he was blunt. He was also generous, loving and kind. His greatest vice was sugar - pie, ice cream, chocolate - he loved it all. His smile and laugh, his advice, wisdom, support and love will be missed by all he leaves behind.   Services will be held at Our Lady of Fatima 105 N Esperanza, San Clemente, on June 12 at 9:30 AM.
