Robert Stewart

March 22, 1946 — June 24, 2020

After a long and complicated battle with an undiagnosed neurological disease, Robert John Stewart, 74, died June 24, 2020, at his home with his family by his side. Over the past three years, his family learned a few things about him that we couldn’t have known until faced with the unimaginable. Most significantly, we learned pain and suffering were no match for his sense of humor. Like his younger brother Mike, humor was his superpower, one that saved us all right up until the end.   His wife Ana knew Robert was the one for her at age twelve, and she was right. This past May they celebrated 54 years of marriage. It is hard to say who took better care of whom. Together they have three children, six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Robert used to say he’d like his grandkids to remember him as the grandpa who could tear it up on a Razor, not as an old man sitting in a chair. He would want us all to rest easy and to know he really is in heaven with his Maker. He was a man of faith, who prayed for his family every day to be well, to be happy, and to know Christ. Though he was quiet about his faith, it was at the heart of everything he did.   Robert’s talent for creating beautiful landscapes is seen in custom yards across Orange County, CA. He was a designer and artist, who was very much at home strolling through nurseries and quietly humming while picking out shrubs and succulents.   Robert is proceeded in death by his parents Louise and Robert and brother Mike. He is survived by his sister Karen, his wife Ana, his son Jason (Kim), his two daughters Lisa (Mike) and Jessica (Jarrett), his six grandchildren Josh, Ashely, Alex, Nathan, Jason, Ella and his three great grandchildren Oliver, Oliver (yes, there are two) and Sophia. We will honor Robert at a service on July 7, 2020 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Huntington Beach, CA at 11:00 am.
