Samuel L. “Sam” Jones, 76, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2021, at his home in Mission Viejo, California. Sam was born in Butler, PA, to Wendell H. and Dorothy K. Jones on November 22, 1944. A 1962 graduate of Butler High School, Sam pursued studies in communication, public relations, and journalism at Point Park College, the University of Cincinnati, and UCLA. Sam started in radio at WISR in Butler, going on to stints at WSAI and WCKY in Cincinnati, and KFWB and KHJ in Los Angeles. He then focused his career on marketing public relations in California, first as founder and president of Forbes Communications and then joining Practice Builders/Medical World Communications as a VP. He later was managing editor at Healthcare Success, and served many clients over the years as sole practitioner of SLJ Marketing Solutions. Sam was a member of the Public Relations Society of America. Sam and his wife Ronda shared 26 years together, and enjoyed traveling the world, and experiencing new adventures. Sam was also dedicated to animal welfare, particularly German Shepherd shelter dogs seeking new homes. In addition to Ronda, he is survived by brothers Donald B. (Trish), Kenneth Christopher, and Robert Todd, sister Judith (Jim) Rogers, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Sam is preceded in death by his parents, and by his son, Robert Jones. Sam’s remains will be returned to nature on Mt. Whitney, California, in a private ceremony at dusk on Saturday, July 10.
