Sandra Suzanne McGregor Macfee, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away from this world on April 26, 2022 at the Laguna Beach Mission Hospital. She had just celebrated her 79th birthday at home in Laguna Niguel, California. After saying goodbye to her loved ones, she decided on her own to end life sustaining measures for advanced pneumonia, and was at peace. She passed away surrounded by her husband Kim Macfee and her two children Kim Macfee Jr. and Laurie Macfee. Sandra was born in Pasadena on April 8, 1943 to William John McGregor and Marjorie Winnifred McGregor née Magee, joining her older brother Robert McGregor. After graduating Pasadena High School, Sandra met her husband Kim at Pasadena Junior College; they married in La Cañada at the home of Kim’s parents, Frederick and Marjory Macfee, on December 21, 1962. Sandra’s children and grandchildren were the joys of her life. So many of her best qualities–a bubbling curiosity, fierce intelligence, easy athleticism, quick dry wit, and some ineffable gentleness and humbleness–live on in them. She will be remembered as a gifted gardener, an avid traveler, a lover of the arts, a voracious reader, and a phenomenal cook. She never stopped exploring the world around her, whether in the great outdoors or in a good book–a lifelong learner. Sandra and Kim have lived in Laguna Niguel for the past two years. Previously they made their home in Reno, NV; Coos Bay, OR; Danville, Fallbrook, San Diego, and Pasadena, CA. Together they co-owned family businesses, including Farwest Truck & Auto Supply in Coos Bay and Bandon, OR for 26 years. She is preceded in death by her father William, her mother Marjorie, and her brother Robert McGregor. She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Kim Macfee; her daughter Laurie Macfee; her son Kim Macfee Jr. and his wife Diana Macfee; her grandchildren Eva DeLappe and her wife Iman James, Sarah DeLappe and her husband Max Posner, William Macfee, and Katie Macfee; her sisters and brothers-in-law Joan McGregor, Rita and Michael Macfee, and Dottie and Fred Macfee; her former son-in-law Joseph DeLappe; and her nieces and nephews Bruce McGregor, Jeff McGregor, Erin Macfee, Holly Macfee, Scott Macfee, and their families. The family will announce a private gathering at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be sent to Kim, Kim Jr, and Laurie at home or posted here. We invite you to share a memory of Sandy on the tribute wall (tab above). These can include photos or a note for Kim and the family. We've added a few pictures and will be posting more. To add to the tribute wall, click the "share a memory" button. If you would like to add a picture of Sandy, click photo, then +, find the picture on your phone or computer, and post. Check the tribute wall or refresh, it may take a few moments to show up. Additionally, the Mortuary adds the "plant a tree" link as an option to all their postings – while we didn't choose it, as a life-long gardener who adored the outdoors and hiking through forests, we know my mom would love it. Or you might plant a remembrance or add a houseplant to your own collection, and watch it grow and bloom.
