Thomas Edward Hagerty, born March 22, 1950, passed away on January 7th, 2023, during his recovery from a heart attack. Born in Indiana to parents Chester Edward Hagerty and Anna Lea (Alt) Hagerty, Tom was the younger brother of John Wallace “Wally” Hagerty. Tom moved to California in 1995 where he lived the rest of his life. He will be remembered for his laugh, sense of humor, and ability to tell a story. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Tom graduated from Valparaiso High School in 1968 and Purdue University North Central in 1972.
In his latest work at Creative Support,Tom was a talented instructor and a fierce advocate for developmentally disabled people.Tom showed patience, kindness, and a deep commitment to his work, inspiring all those around him.
Tom was an active member of the Unity of Orange County congregation, where he served as a board member. He was deeply committed to his faith and cherished the relationships he formed through the church community.
A Memorial Service will be held in honor of Tom at 11 AM on Sunday, February 19th, at the Unity of Orange County, located at 23181 Verdugo Dr., Suite 103B, Laguna Hills, CA 92653. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso, Indiana, at a later date.
Tom is survived by his nephews John Hagerty, Jason Hagerty and Michael Hagerty, and niece Christa Hagerty Eshleman, as well as 14 great nieces and nephews. Although he is no longer with us, Tom’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. May he rest in peace.
