William D. Sherburne, “Wild Bill” if you will. Always loved traveling at the last minutes notice, went to his final destination on August 31, 2022. Bill wasn’t Wild Bill on March 5, 1963 in California. His cool parents are John and Jeanne Sherburne. He also has some awesome siblings. Dianne, Danny, Paul and his favorite, Barbara. Let’s not forget his nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews and all those “adopted” ones that we didn’t know about. David, Kellye, Mika, Emmy, Chris, Krissy, Calvin, Caden, Kylie, Tiffany, Dustin, Chas and Libby.
When Bill graduated from Mission Viejo High School, he couldn’t wait to leave the California drivers to go to Colorado. It was there, he became Wild Bill!
He got a job working with the telephone company who decided to change the name a couple times before sticking with the name, Avaya. When people asked, Avaya? His reply in his best Jewish accent, “I’m good, and you?” There is where he met the greatest friends in his life and they all know who they are. They have become lifelong friends and will continue to carry his love in their hearts. Remember to set out an extra Thanksgiving/Christmas plate for him this year.
Las Vegas was another favorite place. Everyone who was near could hear him loud and proud saying, “Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner!” Or, “Lucky,..Lucky,..Lucky,.. Everybody’s a Winner Here!” He always wanted people to feel good and be happy. If he thought you weren’t, he’d say, “nice weather we’re having.” He’d also say that if one of his jokes flopped. That in itself would make anyone laugh. His laughter is contagious.
He’s a good sport about jokes on him. A few favorites were, one time we walked the dog and picked up after him, came home and asked Billy if he’d like some fresh cannoli. When he was using a stall at Knott’s Berry Farm only to have wet toilet paper fly in. And when he was to set sail on one of his many adventures only to be stopped by security because someone stashed some burnt banana bread wrapped in foil into his luggage. Oh Billy, those were some fun times!
He loved many things. Family, Friends, his cats, Sweetie Pie and Big Boy, Photography, Art, Traveling, his Kings and his Rammies.
A little poem to end with called, Until we Meet Again.
Those special memories of you
will always bring a smile
if only I could have you back
for just a little while
Then we could sit and talk again
just like we used to do
you always meant so very much
and always will do too
The fact that you're no longer here
will always cause me pain
but you're forever in my heart
until we meet again.
Vaya con dios <3 We'll miss you!
